Assistant to Workshop ManagerLocation: Laverton North Depot, National Refrigerated Transport CompanyAre you a skilled and experienced Chassis Welder/Fabricator looking to take your career to the next level? The company is a thriving National Refrigerated Transport Company based at their Laverton North Depot, with a busy workshop team dedicated to providing top-tier refrigerated vehicles for hire and sale. We are seeking an ambitious repairer with the view to become the next workshop supervisor to assist the already very successful, expert Workshop Manager and become a key part of their growing repair workshop team.As the right-hand assistant to the Workshop Manager, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day repairs, working autonomously and efficiently to execute truck repairs at a very high standard. We’re looking for someone who has the skills, discipline, and drive to grow into the Workshop Manager's 2IC (second-in-command).Key Responsibilities:Construct and Repair Frameworks: Work with metal, wood, fiberglass, and other materials to create and repair framework sections.Metal Work: Use MIG & TIG welding (MIG essential) to fabricate mild steel, aluminum, and structural components.Panel and Material Shaping: Cut, shape, and attach panels of sheet metal, aluminum, and reinforced plastic using hand and power tools.Fiberglass Repairs: Complete trailer body repairs using fiberglass materials, including walls, floors, and doors.Trailer Body Repairs: Carry out a variety of repairs and refurbishments, including replacing floors, doors, repairing delamination's, and fixing damaged door corners and walls.Team Collaboration: Work with the workshop team to meet timeframes and deliver high-quality work.Key Requirements:Chassis Welder/Fabricator Experience: Skilled in MIG welding (essential) and TIG welding (preferred), with a solid background in fabricating mild steel, aluminum, and structural components.Ability to think on your feet and fabricate effectively: Ideally have had hands on experience in situations and draw on previous experience Workplace Safety: Full PPE (including a welder’s helmet) and a basic set of tools are required; however, workshop tools are available.Autonomous and Disciplined: You should be able to work independently and manage tasks efficiently, ensuring high-quality results within set timeframes.Team Player: Ability to work well within a team, communicate effectively, and maintain a positive attitude.
